W dniu 19 października 2005 r. Organizacja Narodów Zjednoczonych do spraw Oświaty, Nauki i Kultury (UNESCO) przyjęła Powszechną Deklarację w sprawie Bioetyki i Praw Człowieka.
W 10-tą rocznicę uchwalenia Deklaracji dzień 19 października został ustanowiony Światowym Dniem Bioetyki. Inicjatorem obchodów Światowego Dnia Bioetyki jest International Chair in Bioethics Units – World Medical Association (WMA) Cooperating Centre, którego członkiem jest także Centrum Bioetyki i Bioprawa!

The European Society for the Philosophy of Medicine and Healthcare (ESPMH), of which dr. Joanna Różyńska is a board member, is now accepting submissions for two Young Scholar Awards for scientific contributions (papers) addressing ethical, epistemological, or other philosophical issues related to medicine and healthcare.
The call is open to Master’s and Ph.D. students, as well as early career researchers, who, as of 2026, are within eight years of completing their Ph.D. Submissions must be original and unpublished works. They must be written in English and submitted by March 1, 2026, to Prof. Péter Kakuk ().
The first-place award includes €2,000, and the second-place award €1,500, both intended to support travel and accommodation costs for attending the 38th ESPMH Conference, to be held in Rotterdam, Netherlands, August 2026. Award winners will be invited to present their work at this conference. For the call details click here.
From June 26 to 27, 2025, the Staszic Palace will host the 34th National Ethics Councils Forum (NEC Forum) “Challenges to Human Vulnerability in a Rapidly Changing World.” The event is held under the patronage of the Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union and under the honorary patronage of the Minister of Science and Higher Education.
The NEC Forum is co-organized by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Research and Innovation (DG RTD), Research Ethics & Integrity Sector; the University of Warsaw, Faculty of Philosophy (Center for Bioethics & Biolaw); the Bioethics Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the Ethics in Science Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences.
The NEC Forum is a network of experts established to exchange information and experience, and best practices on issues of common interest within the fields of ethics and science. The NEC Forum organizes meetings in the member state that holds the presidency of the Council of the European Union. It draws together representatives from EU member states and associated countries to the Research Framework Program, the European Group on Ethics in Science and New Technologies (EGE), the Council of Europe (CoE), the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), and the World Health Organization (WHO). Additionally, participants from neighboring EU countries and other non-EU countries (e.g., China) are invited to enrich the network’s work and build awareness of European ethics standards and legislation.
